50+ AI Prompt Templates Every Student Should Use
If you use ChatGPT, QuillBot, or any other AI tool for school, there is one thing that matters more than anything else:
The prompt.
Most students type something vague like “help me write my essay” and then wonder why the answer is not very good.
The truth is that AI is only as good as the question you ask.
During my Computer Science degree, I started saving the prompts that actually worked. Instead of wasting time trying different things, I kept a list of prompts I could reuse for essays, presentations, studying, and exams.
Here are 8 AI prompt templates every student should save.
1. Make My Essay Sound Better
“Rewrite this paragraph to sound more professional and academic while keeping the same meaning: [paste paragraph]”
This is one of the prompts I use the most. It is perfect when you know what you want to say, but your writing sounds awkward or repetitive.
2. Turn My Notes Into a Study Guide
“Turn these class notes into a clean study guide with headings, bullet points, and the most important ideas: [paste notes]”
This is especially useful before exams when your notes are messy and you need something easier to review.
3. Create a Presentation From My Essay
“Turn this essay into a 10-slide presentation with a title slide, key points, and a conclusion: [paste essay]”
I used this several times during university before creating the final slides in Gamma AI.

See the how Gamma ai got me a perfect score
4. Explain This Topic Like I Am a Beginner
“Explain [topic] in simple language as if I have never studied it before. Use examples.”
This works incredibly well for difficult topics that feel confusing in class.
5. Create Practice Questions For My Exam
“Create 10 practice questions about [topic], including multiple choice and short answer questions.”
Instead of only reading your notes, you can actually test yourself.
6. Find What Is Missing From My Essay
“Read this essay and tell me what important information, arguments, or examples are missing: [paste essay]”
This is one of the easiest ways to improve an assignment before submitting it.
7. Rewrite My Email to My Professor
“Rewrite this email to sound more polite and professional: [paste email]”
Every student needs this at least once.
8. Create a Last-Minute Study Plan
“I have an exam in [subject] in [number] days. Create a study plan that tells me exactly what to study each day.”
If you always leave studying to the last minute, this prompt can honestly save you.

Final Thoughts
The difference between a bad AI answer and a useful one is usually the prompt.
